Beichen Gao, PhD

Beichen Gao grew up in Jilin, a city in Northeast China, and received his bachelor's degree from Beijing Normal University. He completed his Ph.D. in 2024 through a joint program among the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), Peking University, and Tsinghua University.

During his Ph.D., Beichen worked in Dr. Xiaodong Wang’s lab, where he studied how necroptosis-regulating genes contribute to immune system dysregulation. In 2025, he joined the Gan Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine as a Postdoctoral Associate. He is particularly interested in the intricate crosstalk between the immune system, programmed cell death, and neurodegenerative diseases. Outside the lab, he enjoys working out, reading, watching UFC fights, movies, and playing video games.


Hobbies: Working out, watching UFC fights, and playing video games.

Research Interests: The complex interactions between glia and neurons in Alzheimer’s disease and the role of the immune system in these processes.
