Rong Shen, PhD

Rong Shen received his Ph.D. in nanomechanics in China. He moved to University of Chicago to continue his research as a postdoc and later staff scientist, where he focused on investigating structure-function correlations of voltage sensing membrane proteins and their interactions with small molecules, peptides, and antibodies using a broad range of computational and experimental approaches. In March 2024, he joined the Gan lab to study molecular mechanisms of propagation of pathological Tau protein and develop therapeutics targeting the progression of neurodegenerative tauopathies. In his spare time, he likes swimming, hiking and exploring nature.

Hobbies: Rockhounding, exploring nature

Research Interests: Mechanisms and therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases
