Sadaf Amin, PhD

Sadaf Amin received her PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from Weill Cornell Medicine working with Dr. Shuibing Chen on disease modeling and drug discovery in diabetes using human pluripotent stem cells. Her work on beta cell stress in diabetes got her interested in cellular stress signaling pathways in age-related diseases.

After her PhD, she joined Dr. Shelley Berger’s lab at the University of Pennsylvania to study molecular mechanisms of cellular aging and worked on the role of cGAS-STING signaling — an innate immunity pathway — in mediating inflammation in senescence and aging. During the pandemic she moved back to New York and joined Dr. Gan’s lab.

In the Gan Lab, she is passionate about the role of cGAS-STING signaling in brain and neurodegenerative diseases. Outside the lab, Sadaf enjoys cooking, watching soccer and attending classical music concerts.

Research Interests: Is passionate about the role of cGAS-STING signaling in brain and neurodegenerative diseases

Hobbies: Cooking, soccer, classical music concerts
