Se-In Lee, PhD
Se-In Lee is from Daejeon, known as the city of science, in South Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience under the supervision of Dr. Jinsoo Seo at the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST), South Korea. His research focused on the functions of ApoE4 astrocytes in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) pathogenesis. In his thesis, he elucidated the role of innate immune memory of ApoE4 astrocytes in exacerbating AD pathology. He also developed a new technology for scanning the neuronal plasma membrane using ToF-SIMS.
He joined the Gan lab in December 2023. Here, his interests include the molecular mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of APOE Christchurch in tau pathology. Outside of the lab, he enjoys running and trying new recipes.
